Mixed Berry Smoothie

This smoothie has a good mix of protein, healthy fats, and fibre to keep you feeling fuller for longer. With the addition of kefir or a probiotic yoghurt, you’ll also be helping to diversify your gut microbiome. If you happen to feel like getting some extra greens in, try adding a handful of baby spinach leaves as well, you’ll hardly notice they’re there.

  • Prep: 15 Minutes
  • Portions: 2 Cups

Ingredients:

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 cup frozen mixed berries
  • 200ml plain kefir (or use a plain probiotic yoghurt)
  • 200ml unsweetended soy milk (or use cow's milk)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • 2 tbsp rolled oats
  • Extra berries for topping (optional)

Method:

  1. Allow the banana to defrost on the bench for 10 minutes before peeling and adding into a blender
  2. Add the remaining ingredients and blitz until well combined
  3. Pour into two glasses and top with extra berries if you would like
