Avocado and Edamame Smash

With a combination of protein from the edamame beans and healthy fat from the avocado, this pureed recipe will keep you feeling satisfied with just a small amount. If you’re in the soft-stage or beyond and would prefer a bit more texture, pulse the mix a few times instead of blending until smooth.

  • Prep: 10 Minutes
  • Portions: Makes 4x 1/4 cup serves


  • 1/2 cup shelled, frozen edamame beans
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves
  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 50g feta, crumbled
  • 1 tsp lemon zest
  • juice of one small lemon
  • 1/4 tsp chilli flakes (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste


  1. Bring a small saucepan of water to boil
  2. Once boiling, add the edamame beans and cook for 5 minutes
  3. Once the edamame beans are cooked, drain and rinse them under cold water to cool them
  4. Add the edamame beans along with the remaining ingredients into a food processor and blitz until smooth
